The Man In My Head

I met a man in my head while I was passing through.

He said hello and hi, and how do you do.

He talked to me in many ways,

He rode on a motor-scooter.

He liked one of the girls I knew,

But said he wanted to shoot her.

He said he was my friend,

And that he was here to stay

And every once in a while, he said,

He’d look the other way. (He would rule the day.)

But I remember that fateful day

When suddenly all was silent,

And I couldn’t hear him say

The usual things that were violent,

And then I guessed that what I heard

Was that he wasn’t there.

And that I was free to play again

With my own affairs. (With my own hair.)

But it did not end that day,

It came back the next,

And then I knew it,

Yes, that I was hexed.

The silence was deafening,

As though you couldn’t hear.

And I felt that one feeling.

The feeling of fear.
